Zambia's premier agricultural technology event, the Agritech Expo, concluded with record numbers, and Kagezi Seeds was proud to participate as a Featured Exhibitor. Our delegation spent three highly engaging days in Chisamba, showcasing our climate-hardy crop catalog to government representatives, agro-dealers, smallholder farmers, and international development agencies.

Our exhibition stand centered around practical demonstration plots of improved Pearl Millet, Sorghum, and Sunflower. Visitors had the unique opportunity to compare the root structures and moisture-retention capabilities of these climate-resilient varieties alongside traditional cereal crops. This visual demonstration highlighted the direct biological benefits that Kagezi's breeding strategy brings to drought-prone soils.

"Events like the Agritech Expo allow us to connect face-to-face with the entire value chain. We aren't just selling a product; we are discussing agricultural transformation and presenting scientific solutions to changing weather patterns." — Joel B. Mseteka, Sales And Marketing Agronomist

Engaging with Smallholders and Agro-dealers

Throughout the expo, Kagezi's agronomy team hosted interactive seminars explaining planting techniques, micro-dosing, and integration of legumes like cowpeas to maximize soil health. For many visiting farmers, seeing these resilient crops thriving in the trial plots was a powerful incentive to diversify their farms away from rain-dependent maize monoculture.

In addition to farmer engagement, we secured valuable distribution partnerships with major agro-dealers across Western and Northern Provinces, expanding our retail seed distribution network. These partnerships will ensure that certified, high-yield Kagezi seed packages are physically accessible to farmers in remote rural depots ahead of the next planting cycle.

Socio-Economic Discussions on Seed Security

Kagezi's leadership also participated in panel discussions regarding seed security and regional trade in Southern Africa. The focus of these discussions was the critical role that social enterprises play in scaling biofortified and climate-smart crops. The positive feedback and connections made during the expo reinforce Kagezi's commitment to lead from the front in agricultural innovation.
